The Popularity of Kosher Cruises

Jul 14, 2009

In my annual State of the Kosher Industry address at Kosherfest last November, I alluded to the success of kosher industries within industries as evidence of the continued growth and development of kosher. The kosher cruise business is a perfect example of an industry that has developed a life of its own and with great success.

I am scheduled to be on board one such cruise in August as part of one of the many cruises offered by Kosherica. They perfected a model which offers the kosher traveler the best of all worlds. The Kosherica cruises take place aboard world-class ocean liners that are known for their luxury. In an arrangement with the cruise ship operators, Kosherica offers its passengers glatt kosher cuisine, davening and ,earning, and everything that an Orthodox Jewish traveler would need.

As part of its worldwide kosher cruises, Kosherica recently announced a week-long Jewish Musical Festival at Sea that sails on January 24, 2010, a program organized in association with the Advancement of Cantorial Arts. Amongst the leading Jewish music entertainers will be such world-renowned cantors and singers as Moshe Stern, Naftali Hershtik and Avraham Fried. This is a unique opporrtiunity for kosher lovers of Jewish music.

Kosherica’s cruises include such destinations as the Caribbean, the icy glaciers in Alaska, the historic cities of the Baltics, and the luxurious Greek Isles. Kosherica offers the finest in kosher cuisine that is of Glatt Kosher, Cholov Yisrael, and Pas Yisrael. All food is prepared under the strict supervision of the MGK (Maritime Glatt Kosher) and elegantly presented on china, white linen and crystal. Since its founding in 1996, Kosherica has hosted more Jewish cruises and Jewish cruise vacationers than all other kosher cruise companies. Kosherica guests join cruises from around the Globe, including Israel, USA, South America, Europe, South Africa and Australia. (www.kosherica.com)

Kosherica is a good example of the many successful sub-industries that have developed within the kosher industry. Please watch this column for my report on the cruise in August.
